Description
Having been a collector of Art Cover Records for 10 years I had the honour to present my collection at ART BASEL the world's premier international art show for Modern and contemporary works.
Having become a father my wife convinced me to downsize my collection in order to enlarge our living space. So in the next few weeks I will present a lot of art cover records of a wide range of artists that have been presented at ART BASEL.
'LET IT BE' BY THE BEATLES WAS ORIGINALLY FIRST RELEASED IN THE UK IN MAY 1970 AS A BOX SET , WITH A 168-PAGE BOOK TITLED 'GET BACK' CONTAINING PHOTOS AND DIALOGUE FROM THE 'LET IT BE' FILM. THE PACKAGE RETAILED ONE POUND MORE THAN THE NORMAL SELLING PRICE OF AN ALBUM. ON 6 NOVEMBER 1970 IT WAS WITHDRAWN AND REPLACED BY A CONVENTIONAL ALBUM RELEASE
THIS IS THE ORIGINAL UK 1st PRESS 'LET IT BE BOX' BY THE BEATLES ON THE 1st PRESS DARK GREEN APPLE LABEL WITH A RED APPLE LOGO ON THE COVER BACK AS USED BY THE FIRST COVERS, A WHITE INNER SLEEVE, BLACK CARD UNDER TRAY, OUTER LAMINATED COVER, AND THE GET BACK BOOK HOUSED IN A BLACK CARD TRAY RELEASED IN MAY 1970.
THE GARROD & LOFTHOUSE OUTER LAMINATED CASE HAS 'PATENTS PENDING' ON THE REVERSE - SHOWING A REALLY EARLY 1ST PRESSING
BUT WHAT MAKES THIS BOX SET EVEN MORE SPECIAL IS THAT IT IS STILL 100% COMPLETE WITH ITS ORIGINAL APPLE 'PROMOTIONAL' POSTER (PROMOTING OTHER APPLE LPS OF THE TIME)
The matrix numbers are YEX 773-2U & YEX 774-2U. Only the 2U matrix is the correct first press matrix!
The Cat. No. for the Box Set package is PXS 1 and the Cat. No on the record is PCS 7096 Green Apple label and is a STEREO 1st pressing
Visually the vinyl is in BRILLIANT condition. After having listened to it I would rate it Vg++ with some faint background noise on the tracks.
The record also comes in its Original 1st Press 'patents' white paper EMI inner sleeve (patent #1.125.555 “Made In England”);
Both the book holder & under tray (as mentioned above) are in Vg+ condition with some edge wear.
The 1st Press Get Back Book is also in Vg++ condition with NO loose pages and fine glossy laminate
The ULTRA RARE Apple Promotional Poster is in Vg++ condition (see pictures)
