PRODUCT DESCRIPTION & NOTES:

• Here is a superb copy of THE RAREST German issued Beatles LP.

•  This rare stereo copy of 'The Beatles' Second Album' from 1964 was released for an extremely limited time (purportedly just two months) in Germany for exclusive distribution on U.S. military bases. (Some copies were reported to have been exported in even more minute numbers.)

• This is the Original German First Pressing, on the white Odeon label, with the rare catalogue number of ZTOX 5558 - which differentiates it from the standard German domestic releases.

• It contains the original inner sleeve in excellent condition.

• While using the standard photo shot used on the U.S. issued 'Something New' album, the cover composition and artwork usage here is unique, and limited world-wide to this German pressing only.

• This copy is in exceptionally fine condition. It was in the possession of the original owner who bought it on base and carried it back to the states, housing it with his other long ago packed away vinyl collectables until this past year.

• We confidently grade it as a VG++/VG++.  Specific descriptions below:

• The cover is crisp and clean. Exceptionally nice. Please do not hesitate to ask for photos of anything you would like to see in detail.   

• Condition notes are as follows:

• The FRONT:  Only one true 'bubble' on the laminated coating, which is about 1" in length on the upper left hand corner. (Bubbling is often problematic on these covers, and this is about as minimal as one can get.)

• There are some small 'crinkle lines' out from the edges - very normal for the plastic coated covers.

• Tiny, tiny wear marks show on the tips of the corners, and along the open edge is some light, minimal 'feathering'. (That is where the lamination ended and by the jacket cut, the cardboard is exposed for maybe 1/64th of an inch.)

• There are minor signs of ring wear visible on the black surfaces, not the photo. The seams are beautiful with one exception.  On the outer edge, from the 'c' in second to the 'b' in album there is a split, and the 'o' is missing - a 1/32nd of an inch small hole. 

• The REVERSE:   The back is crisp and sharp.

• There are some average and expected dirt/handling smudges in places, as it was not laminated like the front.

• In the upper left corner in thin black marker, about 1-1/3" across is written FORD-36. (Lettering is less than 1/2" high).

• On the lower left corner in the same marker is the same notation. It is less then 3/4" high and 2-1/2" cross. (This was the owner's name and 'catalogue number'.) Otherwise, the back does NOT show wear or any yellowing.

• The RECORD is the stunning red, white and gold Odeon label original, (dead wax matrix numbers YEBX 500053-1 and YEBX 500054-1).

• There is no writing and there are no stickers on the labels.

• Under angled light, one can see a few light spindle marks - indicative of it having been rarely played, and surely not abused.

• The vinyl on both sides is in brilliant glossy condition.

• There are some light scuffs/hairlines in places on both sides. A very light surface scratch or two - but again, of the hairline variety. There are no deep scratches, nothing to affect play or sound. It is typical of a record that was played minimally and was cared for in the extreme. 

Track Listing:

Most copies of this pressing are found heavily worn and half trashed. Book value in mint condition runs well over $1000.  You will be hard pressed to find a copy in condition as nice as this or better.

This is an exceptional piece for any Beatles collection.
