Description

I’m going to spare you the marketing hype like everyone else does with this – you very likely already know all about this.  If not, go here:

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles:_The_Collection

This set is just shy of Mint Condition (Mint Minus or Excellent Plus is how I would rate it).

Each pressing is flawless – there are no scratches, marks, or finger prints.  There are no skips on any of the pressings.

Each album jacket is flawless – no damaged or blunted edges or corners, and no printing rubbed off.

Each inner-album jacket is flawless and undamaged.

Each inner-sleeve is flawless and undamaged.

The full color booklet is flawless – no damaged edges, torn/creased pages, or ink loss.

The Geo-disc is also flawless (for whatever that’s worth!)

The black box is the only thing that takes this down from Mint: the brass is tarnished, but still works perfectly (I imagine it could be polished), and there is a small insignificant nick on one side of the surface covering that I blacked out with a Sharpie years ago and is now barely noticeable (see pic-last photo) – one really has to look closely under a bright light to find it.

Includes all 14 original albums:

  • Please PleaseMe
  • With TheBeatles
  • A Hard Day’sNight
  • Beatles ForSale
  • Helpl
  • Rubber Soul
  • Revolver
  • Sgt. Pepper’sLonely Hearts Club Band
  • The Beatles(White Album)
  • The Beatles(White Album)
  • YellowSubmarine
  • Abbey Road
  • MagicalMystery Tour
  • Let It Be

Also includes Album Artwork Booklet and Geo-disc.

This has been kept in a non-smoking home since I purchased it new in 1984.

This is set #20,660 out of a total run of 25,000. These were made in the second run of pressings by MFSL.  What does that mean?

Some MFSL pressing history: the first run of these pressings went to 20,000.  The first run was made from the metal master stampers created directly from the lacquered masters made from the studio tapes.  As production of these pressings continue, the master stampers quality degraded.  Hence, the 20,000th pressing will not be as a high quality as the 1st pressing.

Less than a year had passed after the first pressings when MFSL decided a second run was to be made. The second run started with all new metal master stampers created directly from the original lacquered masters.

This set is essentially the 660th pressing from the master stamper made from the same lacquered masters that came directly from the studio tapes.

You will not find a set in this condition with this low of a generation number.

I am the original owner and not a dealer.  I have played all of these albums on a high-end turntable with tracking and antiskate regularly reset (not via that Geo-disc included in this).  Each has been played less than six (6) times in their entire life. They have been handled only by me, and no cleaning fluids have never been used on the surfaces, which you well know is not good for a vinyl recording.

I have been an avid record collector and audiophile since the mid 70’s, and I had amassed a little over 7000 albums and 2700 CD’s.  I’m getting on in my years and decided it was time to start reducing my footprint.  All of those albums and CD’s have all been sold to a used record merchant, with the exception of this beauty.

It’s time to pass it on to the next audiophile to be enjoyed beyond my years.
