In 1967, FIFTY FIVE years ago, rock superstars The Beatles released their rockmasterpiece 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. It was an international success, loved by critics and fans alike. The album is great. Some of rock and roll's greatest tunes are on this album. Even the cover is great, and features sketches of such stars as Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, Sonny Liston, H.G. Wells, Albert Einstein, Dylan Thomas, and many more! The Beatles were both radical counter-culture rebels, and pop music darlings, loved by millions around the world. Their influence can still be heard to this very day!
In 1978, the first proper picture disc LP of this smash hit was released. It came in a special die-cut sleeve, with a very cool backing card, and was limited in the number that was made. A couple more versions came out through the years, including one a few years ago to commemorate the FIFTY year anniversary. This is the first official 'Sgt. Pepper' picture disc released for this rock and roll milestone.
The sleeve is looking a tad bit rough, but still intact and still holding up well. Just a few frays on a couple of edges. The vinyl looks really good, with only a few light surface marks that I can see. No heavy scratches, gouges, or scuffs.
