(THE) LOS BEATLES
"Sgt PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND"
ODEON "POPS" RECORDS cat# LDS - 2141
ORIGINAL FIRST MONO ARGENTINA PRESSING
**********************************************************
The BRILLIANT recording from the Beatles.
The disc is an interesting ARGENTINIAN Mono issue, and it sounds great!
The Beatles and Sir George Martin wrapped up the sessions in Mono and left the Stereo mixing to the engeneers, this was actually how the band had finished up and approved in THIS recording mix.
I'm surprised to find that it's a wonderful sounding South American pressing here - there's some crackle but it's not obvious during the music at all, only between tracks.
HOWEVER - Note that this is sold for the 'novelty' collectibility, no guarantees for purity of playback on any equipment, of skips, sound fidelity..... etc.
Some brilliant songs here, and as a complete works, it's surely among the best albums ever recorded! Oddly, Paul had intended for the group to be 'anonymous'!
Also remarkable is that they'd recorded Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane for this lp, but EMI asked Brian Epstein to give them a single, to keep The Beatles in the minds of the waiting public.
The complete album is so cohesive and fulfilled as to be thought of as a 'concept album' .....though there's actually not a thread of connection in the outstandingly good tunes!
Essentially no distortion in the grooves, but some crackle in quieter spots, not a top copy so priced accordingly. I would say this is a novelty thing, fun to look at and still reasonable to play and enjoy!
CONDITION;
The VINYL grades G+, playing respectably but a visibly used copy with some occasional light pops in quiet spots / between tracks.
The tracks are 'BANDED' too!
The music is sounding great, though it has several scuffs & needle marks.
(Side 2 ends without the strange piece of sound on the UK issue)
Lables are VG, no stains, stickers or pen, general wear.
The heavy card LAMINATED GATEFOLD COVER is in G condition, a little worse for wear and use, in other words a little 'beaten up'. The title seam has cracked, though the gatefold is intact OK.
The custom cutout photos card is included.
See pictures.
