Description
Vinyl: VG/VG+ Play Graded. Sounds Great! Has some warm vinyl crackle during soft passages. Nice glossy vinyl. Apple Labels are Clean and Bright. This is the Apple Double LP 1ST PRESSING! SWBO 101. A very RARE Variant Error Copy: it has 3 sides pressed at Capitol's Jacksonville, IL pressing plant and one side pressed at Capitol's Los Angeles, CA pressing plant. This variation was issued contemporary with the "label error" variation copies and thus is a 1st Pressing as well. This is the definitive musical statement of The Beatles, not only because it is so vast and allows for so much variation of styles, but because it also shows a fully evolved Beatles, at the peak of their powers, before the downward slide toward their breakup....this is a rich source of material and naturally, it's one of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time!!! allmusic gives it 5 stars!!!

Cover: VG++ (see photos) This is the Original 1ST PRESSING Die-Cut embossed gatefold sleeve, numbered 0754614, with a gray dot preceding the number. The serial number is relatively low, being among the first 3/4 million copies manufactured. Includes, in beautiful condition, the Original 4 beautiful glossy portraits of the Lads. Each heavy card stock quality glossy has in the corner "Printed in USA", denoting that they were printed before December 12, 1968, and thus are 1st Pressings; includes the Original Poster with collage on one side and lyrics on the other. Credits on poster include: (copyright) Apple Records denoting a 1st Pressing. The poster is in beautiful shape and is the original, having the glossy, thicker poster stock of the 1ST Pressing. No pin holes; no tears. Nice high gloss on cover. Front and back of cover artwork and text are rich, clear and bright, with some age spots. No ring wear and very little shelf wear, which is rare for the White Album, 50 plus years after manufacture...Front cover, right side has what looks like a semicircular impression made, perhaps by someone drawing a circle on paper on top of the cover. About the size of (half) a silver dollar...see photos...Seams are solid and clean, with some minor wear. No splits. No writing. Minimal corner wear. Spine is solid and clean with print that is crystal clear.

AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine [-]
Each song on the sprawling double album The Beatles is an entity to itself, as the band touches on anything and everything it can. This makes for a frustratingly scattershot record or a singularly gripping musical experience, depending on your view, but what makes the so-called White Album interesting is its mess. Never before had a rock record been so self-reflective, or so ironic; the Beach Boys send-up "Back in the U.S.S.R." and the British blooze parody "Yer Blues" are delivered straight-faced, so it's never clear if these are affectionate tributes or wicked satires. Lennon turns in two of his best ballads with "Dear Prudence" and "Julia"; scours the Abbey Road vaults for the musique concrète collage "Revolution 9"; pours on the schmaltz for Ringo's closing number, "Good Night"; celebrates the Beatlescult with "Glass Onion"; and, with "Cry Baby Cry," rivals Syd Barrett. McCartney doesn't reach quite as far, yet his songs are stunning -- the music hall romp "Honey Pie," the mock country of "Rocky Raccoon," the ska-inflected "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," and the proto-metal roar of "Helter Skelter." Clearly, the Beatles' two main songwriting forces were no longer on the same page, but neither were Georgeand Ringo. Harrison still had just two songs per LP, but it's clear from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," the canned soul of "Savoy Truffle," the haunting "Long, Long, Long," and even the silly "Piggies" that he had developed into a songwriter who deserved wider exposure. And Ringo turns in a delight with his first original, the lumbering country-carnival stomp "Don't Pass Me By." None of it sounds like it was meant to share album space together, but somehow The Beatles creates its own style and sound through its mess.
