THE 1st PRESSING WITH WIDE SPINE SLEEVE

The Sleeve: 1st & original Flipback wide spine sleeve in Very Good Condition.

It is fully laminated with some moderate storage wear on corners, and on the opening edge. All text legible and pictorials clear and glossy and colourful. There are no marks or handwriting or writing imprints. The spine is 9mm wide and is the first and original. It has received some pressure through storage down the decades and is slightly slanted. It is widely accepted that these first wide spine sleeves were made in order to fit a collection of 'goodies' that The Beatles had originally intended to be inserted into the sleeves. Due to storage issues at EMI the collection of inserts was developed into a single green cut-out's card and thinner sleeves were quickly manufactured instead. The wide spine variant is therefore the first and original and far more rare than subsequent sleeves. The spine also shows a portion of the front pictorial along its edge, unlike the later thinner sleeve which doesn't. The iconic photo inside is superb with no creasing or marks, and is clean and neat sleeve. The laminate along the spine inside is completely intact apart from one small scuff. There is no creasing or marks inside.

Printed & made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending.

Inner Sleeve : This is the original psychedelic red half tone print inner sleeve which only came with 1st pressings and was not used after 1967. It is in Very Good condition, it has a little off-white age discoloration, but it is fully intact with about an inch of edge wear on one side.

No writing or creasing.

Cut-Out's Card: Very Good Plus condition, firm and flat original on thick card. Only suffered from one crease line a few mm from top edge and some very feint edge wear.

No discoloration, no writing or writing imprints, no record ring wear, and complete and intact.

The Vinyl: In Excellent condition. The vinyl surfaces retain a bright black glossy finish and the surfaces looking stunning, having a spotless near mint appearance. Under close bright light you can see some wispy cleaning or sleeve removal trails. There are are NO scratches, NO feint hairline marks, NO marks and NO dinks in the vinyl, NO warps or anything that could possibly affect the playback. The vinyl surfaces are clean and 100% smooth and there is no groove wear.

The record lays completely flat on the turntable.

Heavy robust sixties vinyl weighing at 157 grams.

Labels are close to Excellent. All text is clear and bright, the perimeter area around the spindle location point is neat and feint spindle line traces can be seen in normal light but are not particularly heavy or numerous.

Mother / Stamps - Side 1: 4 MAR

                             - Side 2: 19 ALD

KT tax code from the mid-sixties is embossed . SOLD IN U.K. text across label and

The Gramophone Co. Ltd text around rim.

Made In Gt. Britain text at foot.

The Audio: The audio is Excellent to Excellent Plus with no detractions that lessen the original audio quality. It plays smoothly on both sides without any pops, clicks, ticks, clicks, crackles, skips/ jumps and obviously no sticks. There are no distortions to the sound quality and even the brief track change interludes are quiet. Extremely light static is very occasional, only really on the soundless intro's near the start, and was hard to identify. This is a really good example and has received carefull handling on good equipment, and not played in a long while. Crisp and clear with full bass original mono sound as The Beatles intended it.
