Description
A great opportunity to buy a RARE FIRST PRESSING VINYL LP from the 1960's by The Beatles called "Revolver".
This is a U.K. pressing released in 1966 on the Parlophone label (PMC 7009)(mono) and has 14 tracks (see photos for track listings).
The matrix numbers in the dead wax are:- XEX 605-2 (side one) and XEX 606-1 (side two), which makes it a FIRST PRESSING with the short-lived "Remix 11" version of "Tomorrow Never Knows", which was swiftly withdrawn and replaced with the second pressing using the "Remix 8" version.
The mother stamper codes next to the labels at 3 o'clock appear to be GP (side one) and A (side two). The Tax Codes K and T are embossed on the centre of the side one label.
The vinyl is in a clean and shiny VERY GOOD condition. I always examine and grade records under a bright table lamp and there are many light surface marks evident, but nothing at all serious. There are several spindle marks on the labels. I have played the whole of both sides and they play fine and sound great. There is just a hint of light surface noise noticeable between the tracks. Overall the sound quality is a great example of mid 60's mono recordings, having that wonderful depth, which is sadly missing in later stereo pressings.
The labels are clean and free from any writing, stickers or major defects. The title of the track "Dr Robert", is abbreviated on the label and the cover. Later pressings print it as "Doctor Robert".
The record is flat and has no warps of any description.
The record is housed within a plain white inner sleeve in an EXCELLENT condition considering its age.
The Garrod & Lofthouse front-laminated flipback picture cover is in a lovely clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition. The edges, corners and spine are very strong, and the writing on the spine is clearly readable (see photo). There are a few very light creases of the laminate in places noticeable when tilting towards the light, but nothing that should detract from the overall condition. The back cover is unmarked and has remained well preserved over the years.
This is a highly collectable Beatles LP and should be of interest to avid collectors.
