Description

For sale is a rare original 1965 1st UK mono “loud cut” pressing of the Beatles’ seminal album “Rubber Soul” on Parlophone records in flip-back Garrod & Lofthouse front-laminated sleeve. The matrixes XEX 579 - 1 and XEX 580 - 1 confirm that this was the first, withdrawn “loud cut” pressing of the record. The labels on the vinyl are the earliest sans-serif font kind. What’s more, both sides are pressed with matching ‘2’ mothers, and early stampers (RG & LA, i.e. #21 & #83), strongly suggesting a very early copy! A very clean copy of this highly desirable item. Full grading as follows:

Record: EX-

There are no deep scratches to either side of the record at all, only a number of light ‘hairline’ marks and light scuffs, visible under a light source. Both labels are fully intact and very neat, with some minor spindling viewable under strong light. In normal room lighting conditions the record appears close to Near Mint.

Sleeve: VG

The laminated cover is glossy and clean, with some expected creasing here and there, but nothing worrying. The spine is beautiful - fully intact and legible with no creasing or fraying. There is light wear to the opening edge, corners with very minor corner and edgewear otherwise. The back has some tanning and small areas of discolouration, but is clean and very neat for its age. There is a 1cm fray to the top edge of the cover (pictured), otherwise I would grade this as EX.

Original Emitex inner is included without splits or tears, only creasing.
