WOW!!! The time has come for me to part with my UK Beatles collection. Please check out my other auctions and follow me as I will be listing every single LP, 45, fan club Xmas flexi and EP. I will happily combine shipping.
For sale is an incredible piece of rock n roll history! This is the very first pressing of The Beatles’ very first record! It is the highly sought after “Black and Gold” labeled “Dick James credit error” (was quickly changed to the correct Northern Songs). Only the earliest pressings contain the Dick James credits for I Saw Her Standing There, There’s a Place and others. It is housed in its correct original earliest “Gold Sleeve” with the Angus Mcbeam photo credit aligned to the far right. These sleeves alone are rare let alone the disc itself!! LOW Mother/Stampers!!
It has been loved and is in very decent condition! One of the better copies I have personally seen but not NM. It is priced fairly and I will consider offers. Most of these were played to death but this copy is remarkably clean! See below for incredibly detailed condition report. I highlight EVERY flaw so you know exactly what you will get.

Sleeve: VG
There are several small creases and laminate lifts here and there but nothing major. These sleeves are notoriously and most commonly found in much much worse shape. There is 1/4” seam split along the opening edge on top and bottom but is otherwise unsplit! The spine is legible with some cracking. The rear has a small amount of browning and wear. The Ernest J Day sleeve flipbacks are intact with the upper left hand tab missing a few centimeters (see pics). Overall one of the nicer ones you’ll see.
Disc: VG
There are several light hairlines and a few superficial scuffs but nothing deep or major. It plays great with loud clear sound- obviously some crackles and pops here and there but no skips, stalls or jumps whatsoever when I’ve played it. Audiophile bidders expecting perfect, crackle free audio need not buy. But it truly does sound wonderful and I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I play it, knowing it is the earliest first pressing of their landmark debut!!
Labels: VG to VG+
Labels are quite nice- the only real flaw is some sticker residue (see pics) which I’ve been told can be removed but have not attempted it. This could possibly have been from a Factory Sample sticker someone told me but it doesn’t appear to be the correct shape. There is some wear around the spindle hole. Side 2 label is VG+ and is free of any major flaws. Quite beautiful actually!
Inner Sleeve: EX
Original Emitex inner sleeve is in EX condition with no splitting. Minor browning and the slightest of creases.
Overall, this is a wonderful copy of one of the most important records in rock history. Owning this is owning a piece of that. It is a wonderful play copy for those who don’t mind a little crackle and pop once in awhile and has great audio!
Shipping: I am a vinyl collector myself so I completely understand the importance of good packaging and will ship this very carefully and securely. The disc will be put into a generic inner sleeve and placed behind the outer sleeve and protected by thick cardboard. Due to the value of this item I will ship USPS Priority Mail for FREE within the USA.
