The Sleeve.

The original front laminated flipback sleeve made by EJ Day of London , has the correct alignment of the Angus McBean on the front cover , correct to this issue ,

It is aligned more to the edge of the sleeve unlike later issues  where it is noticeably about a half inch further left .

The Sleeve is generally very near excellent to excellent condition  with some relatively minor issues.

I have tried to take photos of the sleeve from every angle to cover  every corner so please study them well before bidding.

The front of the sleeve is nr excellent to excellent condition ,

no laminate creases at all but has some small writing indentation on the top about an inch left of the large MONO text.

I have lifted the ink out but the indentation is still there , there are also a couple of wear marks to the top edge also ,

The corners have some slight rubbing )

The edges and spine are extremely crisp, the spine text is incredibly clear

All flipbacks in great shape no issues at all,

the  rear of the sleeve is still very crisp and has not yellowed at all .

really clean.  rear of sleeve is ex.

The Labels

The original desirable Gold and Black parlophone labels are in stunning near mint

have raised  ZT code on centre of side 2 label .

The condition is very very nr mint to mint condition , mabe one very light spindle mark on side 1 label near the centre but this may not be a spindle mark at all…a couple of small white marks right the edge of centre

Side 2 label has the faintest slight crease mark done at manufacture that’s hardy worth mentioning just a very faint mark …

these labels are Superb condition , probably as clean as you will ever find

The Vinyl

This early uk 1st press is pressed on very thick vinyl and is legendary for its very precise and smooth full bodied audio,

its hard to describe but the sound is so solid  everything is so well defined , the vocals cut effortlessly through the mix and the hi fi amp is set on slightly lower than a standard press …this pressing is loud ……and very clear

The vinyl is visually excellent condition  and plays superbly…has great shine and is no way overplayed

There is one very light surface scuff on side one ( see pic) worth mentioning but is not at all audible  some

very light paper scuffs noticeable only under a lamp but

Generally  the vinyl is superb,

the record plays with great audio all the way through with no jumps , no sticks no nasty clicks , extremely minimal surface noise little or no distortion.

I would say it has had a minimal amount of play and has been looked after

More detail below….

I Saw Her Standing There       nice quiet run in grooves and   plays great

Misery                                      plays great just the very slightest surface nr beginning of track , very brief

Anna (Go To Him)                    plays great  just one light quiet pop near beginning on third line of vocals  , very quiet after track..

Chains                                       plays great just the mildest distortion on part of the loud vocal just very very slightly noticeable (on high end turntable)

Boys                                          plays great , quiet after the track but has 2 low level pops before the next track starts

Ask Me Why                             plays great , mabe a couiple of very low level pops …..not quite sure , then quiet before next track

Please Please Me.                    Plays great , a few light pops nr end of track

Love Me Do                               nice quiet lead in grooves then superb audio, mabe one static pop in the middle of the track ( low level)vocals very crisp , mabe just                  the slightest surface noise before the next song

P.S I Love You                          plays great , very quiet after the track

Baby It's You                             plays great

Do You Want To Know A Secret plays great stunning

A taste Of Honey                       plays great , bell like clarity on the vocal  and guitar quiet after the track

theres A Place                          plays great stunning audio

Twist And Shout                        plays great mabe the slightest hint of distortion on loud vocal but debatable

The record has been played on a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable fitted with a goldring stylus ,listened to through full range handmade wilmslow audio transmission line speakers that have superb response and definition on all frequencies

For accurate grading  visual and play grade (like all my records) this record has been professionally cleaned using an okki nokki cleaning machine

( 1st clean with purified water and isoproranol alcohol and finished off with L’art du son / purified water mix

the alcohol mix removed the release agent all records have from the manufacture stage , this hides detail in the sound

the l’art du son mix seems to smooth out any brittleness the alcohol water mix
