PLEASE PLEASE ME

PARLOPHONE
Cat. No. PMC 1202
RELEASED 22 MARCH 1963

Parlophone classic black and yellow labels. The label rim states "The Parlophone Co."
and the label mentions "Recording first published" but NOT "Sold in the UK".

Large "MONO" on front cover.

Matrix / Runout (A-side stamped): XEX 441-1N
Matrix / Runout (B-side stamped): XEX 442-1N

The disc has a few hairlines/marks but if you read the detailed description of EACH TRACK any effect will be noted

These early 1960's heavy 180 gm records meant that light hairlines very often have no effect on the sound playback

The cover is now 60 years old but is in excellent condition with the large MONO on the front.
According to the RRPG this a FOURTH pressing with the front photo credited to Angus McBean with the "A" of "Angus" starting
under the second "S" of the word "SONGS" Research estimates around 25,000 pressed.
The spine is straight and true with clear and undamaged print. Printed by Ernest J Day.

Please view the photos as they make part of the description

The Black/Yellow labels have "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" text. "THE PARLOPHONE CO.LTD rim text.
Not surprisingly there spindle traces but only seen in a certain light.

SIDE ONE

The intro on "I SAW HER STANDING THERE" with incredible clarity, silent run in and maybe slight crackle between tracks. The track plays silently throughout.
The start of "MISERY" has no background and then plays with outstanding clarity
The run-in is silent but the run our has a static but not over the sound.
"ANNA (GO TO HIM) Beautiful clarity. Silent throughout. Great vocal.
The run-in and run-out are silent.
"CHAINS" again has silent run ins and run outs. A couple of tics at the end of the track. Absolutely nothing serious.
"BOYS" Plays silently throught.
"ASK ME WHY" Maybe a little crackle between tracks. Otherwise silent playing.
"PLEASE PLEASE ME" Silent run in, throughout and run out. Great bass playing from Paul.
SIDE TWO

"LOVE ME DO" Again silent run in and only a small crackle at the end. This is where it all started!
The intro to "P.S. I LOVE YOU" A It just plays beautifully from start to finish with no intrusion. Again silent run-in and run-out.
"BABY IT'S YOU" Another outstanding track. Silent in a couple of statics at the very end.
"DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A SECRET" Again silent run in and silent throughout.
The intro to "A TASTE OF HONEY is faultless. It just plays beautifully from start to finish with no intrusion. Again silent run-in and run-out.
"THERE'S A PLACE" Another outstanding track plays completely silently in and through.
"TWIST AND SHOUT" Finishes off this ground breaking first album from The Beatles with John's screaming vocal.
George Martin recorded this track as the last of the session as he knew that John's voice wouldn't last after this performance!!

As always I have played every track in full. I cannot emphasise enough just how strong and clear the audio is, the playback is stunning
despite the surface hairlines.
