The original 1967 UK "Magical Mystery Tour" issue came in a two EP's, 45 RPM format only, with the six film soundtrack songs. In 1976, for the first time in 9 years, a UK LP was pressed with the USA LP's addition of all three of the Beatles 1967 singles along with their five B-sides."I Am The Walrus" was paired with "Hello Goodbye" but it was a part of the film's soundtrackanyway. It now meant that a "Magical Mystery Tour" was available as a Parlophone pressing, with eleven tracks from the Beatles most inspirational year, 1967. A perfect musical companionto "Sgt.Pepper," both albums together are the complete recording's made in the very peak of the psychedelia era. The tracks on both LP's are the truest representation of how the Beatles music evolved into the most astonishing ever to be recorded. I have never understood why UK record buyers were uninterested in hearing the original stereo mixes that had been previously
unavailable on an LP. They ignored this historic release completely and this incredible first UK "Magical Mystery Tour" as an LP, failed to even gain a UK chart entry! Unbelivable for such a fantastic new Beatles album not to sell, because all of the tracks were directly sourced from Abbey Road's Master tapes. The full sized colour book in a different gatefold cover alone made it such a beautiful package.  In fairness, the
early 70's had this void partially filled by the many USA Apple label imports. This means the1976 UK issues are far rarer than the 1967 EP's originals
, but only 9 years later is a very long time in the life of records and gatefold covers with large books inside. This 1st LP issue is nownearly 30 years old, but the condition of all the items is just stunning.

The 24 page full sized colour book has colour and black & white film stills, plus the "M.M.Tour" filmstory is told in strip cartoons like a comic. All of the pages are in stunning, as new condition! The book was printed on top quality glossy paper and makes a great one to read as you play the LP.No creases, fingerprints or stains on the pages, when you think this is heading for 30 years of age, a stapled book in this condition is amazing. The staples are as perfectly sound and strong asthe day this was made, even the point they are in the spine has no tears etc. around them.

The LP is still in the original 1976 EMI inner sleeve with "Care of your record" and this too is in mint condition.

What makes this so rare is apart from its condition, the fact that it is a factory sample and not for sale. I bought the LP when Downtown Radio in Northern Ireland donated its vinyl to sell for charity. On side one of the lp is sticker stating NOT FOR SALE with FACTORY SAMPLE above it. A sticker is placed just below with the radio library number it was given.
