The BEATLES MFSL "THE COLLECTION BOX SET" UP for bids is The Beatles The Collection, the outstanding boxed edition presented by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs of Japan. In commencing production the Stereo Masters for each album, originally released on Parlophone Records, was sent to Japan. There, the tapes were examined and half-speed masters acetates were cut and forwarded to press a limited edition of 25,000 records of each title. This is one of the earlier ones produced, it being number 3,739 of 25,000. This impressive set was released worldwide in September 1982. The 14 LP box set of half-speed mastered records was presented in a handsome black box with gold foil printing. Each set is sequentially numbered and includes a beautiful 38-page booklet containing the artwork for each album. It is very important to keep in mind that these records were pressed onto "super" vinyl; the difference between "super" and commercial is that "super" is virgin vinyl. The advantages are that is is a heavier gauge, and it retains no memory. Uniquely, virgin vinyl is translucent when held in front of a light source. Arguably, the analog recording found on this set are the finest ever to be reproduced on record. Critical listeners will agree that the analog recordings found on these vinyl records have softer tones with a wider range of mid-tones when compared tot he digital remixes. All 14 records are in near mint condition. All LP's come with their original sleeves and 2 protective jackets, which too are in near mint/mint condition. The book is in MINT condition, and the geo disc is like new. The box is in very nice condition.The felt is still intact on the bottom of the box. This is a set to be proud of and enjoy.
