Parlophone BLACK Label 45 / R4949 (UK, Mono, 1964)
Happy to offer this rare black label ‘Sold In The UK’ text 1964 press of The Fabs debut single. AND WHAT A SUPERB COPY THIS IS!!! BARELY PLAYED, A REAL CLEAN, FRESH COPY HERE WHICH HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME SUPERBLY…
Matrices 7XCE 17144 – 1N / 7XCE 17145 – 1N
‘KT’ tax code embossed to B-side label.
MPZT stamped in the run-outs on either side.
Mother / Stampers: 1 A D (Side A) / 1 R H (Side B)
‘Parlophone Co. Ltd’ rim text in upper/lower case.
The labels are in tremendous, hardly touched M- (Mint Minus) shape. Tiny spindle evidence to the B, whereas no discernible use of the A (meaning ‘PS I Love You’ was sadly overlooked!) Probably 2 or 3 plays at most. Sharp silver text NO writing, tears, residue, dirt – really lovely pair of these 53 year old labels!
The vinyl is a fantabulous example. Some VERY vague paper scuffs if you magnify your view but so hard to detect and nothing else to fault this gleaming disc. So NO scratches, hairlines, nicks, embedded dirt, dulling etc… Superb shine - you can look at yourself in the surfaces of this copy… Will be very hard to beat. Graded M- (Mint Minus).
IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays almost ‘as new’ as to be expected from such a good-looking disc. QUIET run-ins, NO snap, crackle or pop, NO hiss, clicks. NO distortion or loss of definition/lack of clarity. A wonderful listen.
Surely one of the best remaining examples of this rare press of this seminal debut single. Don’t miss!
