Let It Be 2U / 2U 1st Press (Red Apple)

This immaculate first pressing has to be heard to be believed.  A full grading is given below but in essence the audio is of Mint quality from beginning to end.  The vinyl and the cover have been beautifully preserved and is without question a FINAL UPGRADE ARCHIVE first press.  As it is a genuine first press it has the 'red apple' on the back cover.

Contrary to what a lot of people think the 'red apple' covers were also released with the initial run of albums and not just with the deluxe box set.

 Visual grading

  This is as about as good as it gets.  The vinyl has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and has no scratches at all and you have to look very closely in order to see any hairlines.  There are only a handful of the faintest hairlines imaginable and quite honestly you can look at it for quite some time and still think it is 'as new'.  This is the most stunning first press I have ever seen and that is reflected in the audio.  There is some spindle wear, although not a great deal, and this is centred around the inner circle apart from one spindle trace on S1.  The run out grooves and labels are super clean and this is a 'once in a lifetime' vinyl that is for sure!

Play grading

The 'spoken' intro on S1 has no 'background' at all and then 'Two Of Us' plays with a clarity and depth that is as good as when it was released almost 49 years ago.  I know Mint when I hear it - there is not one single dust tick let alone anything worse.  From the very first note to the last there is no interference of any kind and even the fade out plays with stunning precision, again not even a dust tick on the whistle!  This is audio of the highest calibre, 'shop fresh' without doubt.

With complete silence in the dead wax 'Dig A Pony' continues with the same exceptional clarity from the intro to the fade out.  I listen to every second of every album that I sell so as to provide a 'complete' grading as rare records deserve this and of course so potential customers know what they are buying.  This is pure Mint audio once more although of course I should grade as Mint- so as to adhere to RC standard!  Fade outs provide a great example of the clarity of any record and the spoken 'live' fade out on this track has no 'background' again.  In a word, stunning.

The seque into 'Across The Universe' plays with perfect precision and then plays with stunning audio from then on.  I honestly cannot believe what I have heard thus far, this is one record that has been beautifully preserved over the decades and there is just no deterioration in sound quality whatsoever.  The separation is so impressive i.e. you can hear each note perfectly, there is no 'muddiness' to the sound and again the long fade is 'as new'.  Wow!

'I Me Mine' and 'Dig It' are both of the same immaculate standard and there is no distortion on the top end which is a rarity.  Again there is no interference of any kind.

The quiet piano intro on 'Let It Be' is stunning and has only a couple of barely audible dust ticks but to all intents and purposes is Mint such is the clarity.  This classic continues in the same 'high end' way and the mid guitar solo is so impressive with no distortion.  Could this be the finest version I have ever heard?  Possibly!  The remainder plays with impeccable quality and again there is no 'background' on the fade out.

'Maggie May' has no interference and only a minimal amount of distortion on the vocal.  This is always the case and is certainly not intrusive.  It is worth re-iterating that there are no clicks or pops on the side, basically no interference, you could not wish to find a better 2U/2U first pressing.

I am delighted to say S2 carries on in the same sublime way.  'I've Got A Feeling' has a couple of mega light static ticks on the intro and then plays with a quality that is second to none.  It could not play with any greater definition and deserves the highest praise, the playback is 'as new'.  The spoken fade out has... no 'background'.

'One After 909' plays with wonderful depth from the word go and the bass is just so strong, it adds so much to the recording.  The sonic quality is stunning and again this is Mint without question.  You would perhaps a little distortion on this louder track but no it is pure 'as new' audio from beginning to end.

I do not have the words to describe 'The Long And Winding Road'!  Never have I heard this all time classic play with such immaculate distinction.  It plays with such incredible precision you would think you were listening to a high quality vinyl pressed only yesterday!  So often there is some static distortion on the top end but that is not the case here whatsoever.  Every note plays so clearly and the orchestral sections are the 'cleanest' I have ever heard.  This is how audio should be heard, the warmth and depth on this track is first class and again I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint it could play with any greater clarity.  Wow!

This may be getting repetitive now!  For You Blue' is of the same exacting standard.  From the acoustic intro to the very end this plays with remarkable depth and obviously no interference.

The spoken intro on 'Get Back' has no 'background' and this classic then plays with superb definition and depth to the end.  For a final track it plays to a wonderful standard and there is no distortion.  The spoken 'ending' again has no interference and provides a stunning finish to an album that plays with perfection precision from the first note to the last.

In summary this is a FINAL UPGRADE ARCHIVE first pressing of that I have no hesitation in saying.  It is pure Mint audio all the way through and there is also complete silence in the dead wax between every track.  Never have I heard such clarity and depth on a 'red apple' first press and this will please the most avid of collectors.  The glossy laminated cover is also in stunning condition with no obvious shelf wear at all, it is a beautiful example of its kind.

The 'Red Apple' Cover

This rare G & L 'red apple' laminated cover is without doubt one of the most stunning examples I have ever encountered.  It is so incredibly clean and has only the bare minimum of shelf wear.  The edges are in perfect condition as is the thin spine and there is no corner wear either, how rare is that!  The opening edge is nigh on perfect with next to no handling wear.  The glossy front cover just 'shines' beautifully there is no other way to describe it and has only three mega small creases around the edges.  The back cover is almost as good with only one tiny area of laminate lift top right, a couple of edge creases and some very minor creasing around the spine area.  Don't let this fool you!  Any wear is so minor but being an 'honest grader' I just list what I see.  This is as close to Mint that you will find and is a FINAL UPGRADE cover for certain.  This is of course the most collectable 'Let It Be' cover and to find one as stunning as this is a genuine rarity.

Inner Sleeve

This comes with a plain white die-cut inner sleeve which is in excellent condition.  There are no splits or tears just some creasing.

The Labels

They are in superb condition with no marking or writing and not too much spindle wear.
