`The Beatles` Hottest Hits`
Of the 3,048 albums pressed. Only 2,048 actually made it into the public domain. The other 600 were destroyed and burned. This was stated by EMI files administrator Bertol Dueholm at the Danish EMI in the liner notes on CD 'Beat Masters 1964-1967'. He states : "600 copies of the Danish 'The Beatles Hottest Hits' were sent for destruction to be burned, because the English EMI did not allow other countries to make their own compilations". The album was pressed in MONO only, though the catalogue number indicates 'stereo' (PMCS). The 'ESKIMO' front cover was thought by many to have been taken in Denmark,but was actually taken backstage at the Hammersmith Odeon at the 1964 Beatles Christmas show. Also note an error on the rear sleeve under the heading `More Hot Hits` regarding the B-side to `A Hard Days Night` which is wrongly identified as `Waitin` For You` (not a Beatles song) which should correctly have been `Things We Said Today`. Of the 2,048 copies that originally went out. Two were purchased by my sister while on a school exchange trip to Denmark in `65, this one a gift for me. But it`s now time for this gem to go another good home for another 56 years.
Original Danish 1st. pressing on black/silver Parlophone label from 1965. Cat No: PMCS 306
Matrix: XSTX 115. XSTX 116.
Vinyl Mint minus(visually looks unplayed). Labels Near Mint(whisper spindle mark).
Audio as new. Silence dead wax except for 1 light tick Side 2 dead wax run off(can`t see why).
Front laminated F/B Sleeve has 4 small nicks open end front(see picture),with some light creases down laminate front left side, tiny bit wear 3 corners, rear little bits of some age colouration,but very clean, no edge splits. Solid near pristine spine.
Original `EMITEX` die-cut, `rice-paper` (not poly), inner Sleeve Near mint.
One owner(me)Stunning condition after 56 years, but time to go to another good home, hopefully for another 56 years.
