THE BEATLES – HEY JUDE

CPCS 106 – Paper Back Writer Error

This item is the Beatles Hey Jude album released in I believe 1970. It’s catalog # CPCS 106 and has the Paper Back Writer error on the label. I ran Audacity software while listening so I could check for clicks and noise in the meter. Side one was not bad as far as clicks and background noise. Some of the songs you couldn’t hear any or maybe an occasional. That is using my computer speakers while monitoring, it could be much different on your turntable. “I Should Have Known Better” has a very quick hiccup/skip at the beginning and there is some noise before “Revolution” begins. Side Two was a bit disappointing. There are 3 or 4 clicks at the beginning of “Hey Jude” and although not overpowering you can clearly hear them the last minute of the song. “Old Brown Shoe” seems okay, you really can’t hear them. “Don’t Let Me Down” showed them on the meter and they were faint at times in the background. “The Ballad of John and Yoko” seemed okay. The vinyl has some minor scuffs and hairline type scratch but they do not to affect the sound. The swirling effect on the label close-up is a reflection of my fingers holding the camera above the record. There are no tears and the seams are intact but the there is some creases and wear to the cover. The white along the top of the album cover is just reflection and not wear. The inner sleeve has wear and seems to have some discoloration (browning) and wrinkles.
