Description

WOW!! What I have for sale is one of (if not THE) most coveted US Beatles records of all time- the infamous Butcher cover of Yesterday and Today. This is a 2nd state - meaning it still contains the boring trunk cover slick pasted over the highly controversial Butcher slick. These were only in stores for one day before being recalled. If you're not familiar with the story of the Butcher cover than you must not be a serious Beatles collector. I won't bother telling the story- if you're unfamiliar, Google it. I do not want to part with this but unforeseen circumstances are forcing me to. :(

This is a Mono copy GUARANTEED to be 100% legitimate and there are several easy giveaways on the front (see pics). Ringo's V-neck is clearly visible and a portion of the trunk slick has come off showing the Butcher beneath. Also, the paste over was a little off set and the Butcher slick can clearly be seen in the lower left hand corner. This is of course one of those rare collectible records where the sleeve holds the true value but the disc and original inner sleeve are also included making it complete! I will take offers so please make your best one and I will consider it.

It's not perfect so this is your perfect opportunity to own this rarity for a very affordable price. Copies in Near Mint condition can fetch into the thousands of dollars. These are one of those records that in any condition continue to rise in value and 2nd state copies without the trunk slick removed are becoming rarer by the day as people are constantly peeling them. Soon if they don't already these will outnumber and out value a 3rd state peeled copy. Though this would be a fine example if it were to be peeled (I suggest professional peeling only).

This is an RIAA #6 meaning it is a Mono copy pressed in Los Angeles, CA.

Cover:

Front: VG...some small damage to the trunk slick at the bottom and the usual wear and tear (considerably better than many I see sold). Some rounded corners but overall would make a great display piece. A couple of small stains and small amount of water damage is on the Trunk slick and a small amount of wear to the Butcher where it has been exposed. There is the beginning of a seam split toward the middle of the top seam about 2-3" long but is not a full split.

Spine: Decent spine- legible with a small amount of splitting beginning near top but very nice!

Rear sleeve: G : names and addresses written on the rear along with mildew and a small amount of water damage are the biggest flaws here but when framed would be completely unnoticeable.

Disc:

G : decent Original Mono disc included in what I assume to be playable condition though I haven't tried. Many superficial scratches and scuffs. These are easily replaceable and obviously the value is in the sleeve not the disc. The matrix numbers in the dead wax are:

T-1-2553-F-23 CI

T-2-2553-G-18. 2 *

Labels: G+ T LUCAS written on both sides in black marker with some wear to the rainbow label. Again, the discs for these records are easily replaceable and barely affect the value at all. I've seen just the sleeve sell for astronomical amounts without the disc or inner sleeve even present.

Inner Sleeve: Correct Original Orange Capitol '66 Sounds Great inner sleeve included with this record. Some seam splitting.

This is THE must have Beatles record for any collector and would make a wonderful gift. If you collect Beatles records and don't own one of these, you're not a real Beatles collector! Haha. The recipient will be VERY excited I assure you.

I strive for 100% customer satisfaction so in the event of a problem, please contact me before opening a case and I will do everything I can to fix it. Please review the pics and description carefully as I have tried to highlight the flaws so there will be no unwanted surprises. What you see and read is what you will get. Again, buying a Butcher cover is one of the safest investments one can make as I have only seen the value rise and rise as these are getting harder to find. (Especially 2nd States)
