Just in time for Christmas, the ultimate Beatles Christmas collectable! I've seen this advertised elsewhere for a grand. I'm not asking nearly that, but I can also clue you in on what exactly this is. It IS a seven two-sided picture disc collection of the seven annual holiday messages that were distributed through the Beatles fan club exclusively to the members. The original discs were printed onto cardboard and are extremely rare and fragile. These are very-nicely done picture discs. Picture discs have an image on thin plastic and then are printed on clear vinyl so you can see the picture and play the record. This IS a beautifully assembled collection of the discs, along with reproductions of the Christmas newsletters that accompanied each one. It IS (to the best of my knowledge) limited to 1,000 numbered copies, of which this is #669.
Here is what it is NOT. Which is an official Fan Club production. This was created in the early 1980s. I owned a record store, so I know of what I speak. We ordered these through our bootleg distributor. They were imported from the UK and we sold several copies and no two had the same number and when they ran out there were no more available, so I think the limited number was legit. This is the copy I saved for myself.
This was lovingly created by fans for fans. They acquired excellent source material to record each disc. So this is a great collectible but, despite the best efforts of the original publishers, it is NOT an actual Beatles Fan Club release. Still, it went for $150 to $200 at the time and I'm more or less willing to let the public decide what value it has.
Note the scuffs on the back of the vinyl notebook. The discs themselves are in excellent shape. I am the original owner and played them each maybe once sand not since. I would describe the vinyl notebook as VG. The discs themselves should be perfect as it has been stored in my home for the last 35 years.
