     Here is a nice original copy of The Beatles' LP "Yesterday and Today" on Capitol Records ST 2553 from 1966. This copy has the butcher cover underneath the trunk cover and so it has been termed a Second State copy. It is a stereo copy.
     Overall, the cover is in nice condition, with no seam splits or writing. The spine is solid, unlike some copies. The front cover barely shows any aging.

     This is a Beatles butcher cover that is an OBVIOUS butcher cover. One quick look and you can see Ringo's black shirt under his white butcher smock V Neck to the right of the trunk.

    The front cover is in very nice condition. The white of the cover is still very brilliant after 59 years! The front cover makes a very nice presentation.
    The back cover does show some aging. There is some yellowing in spots. Whereas the front cover is a different paper with some sheen to it, the back cover is a plainer paper and some yellowing has begun to appear.
    As for the vinyl, first I looked at the record and I saw a few faint marks. So, then I put it on my turntable and play tested quite a lot of it. I listened to some of every cut and I listened to every lead-in groove and every groove between cuts. I have to say that the marks must be on top of the grooves and not IN the grooves because there were no "clicks" or "pops" or surface noise. The record played Mint! There was total silence in the lead-in grooves and total silence in the grooves between cuts. I was amazed!
  So, an overall excellent 59 year-old example of the Beatles' "Yesterday and Today" LP that was withdrawn and had a new "less offensive" cover replace the original butcher cover underneath.
