1st Press 1G/ 1G Matrices and 1G/ 1G Mothers & Stampers
An incredibly rare original Indian Dum Dum copy having 1st ever matrices and mother & stamper codes making it one of the first ever pressed!
Overall it is very neat condition and plays well. It was pressed in India by EMI at the same time as the UK version using the same master matrices, and a version as early as this will likely not come along again.
Sleeve: In Good Plus condition. Has retained its original glossy finish, bright coloration and contrast... Corners are a little scuffed, edges and spine a little rubbed. The sleeve is structurally sound; no tears, rips, or repairs, and no blemishes such as writing, ring-wear, or indentations. There is a slight rippling effect/ storage wear to the opening side and laminate has a little lifting in places. Lies completely flat and the fold-over's are still well adhered and clean, and the rear panel is really clear white with jet black sleeve notes. Strong sturdy card, with bright contrast pictorial. Made in India by E.M.I.
The Vinyl: In a Very Good Plus condition ... Has retained a jet-black glossy pressing sheen all over both surfaces and looks to have been infrequently played. There are no warps, no scuffs, no needle drops, no groove wear, no scratches, and no hairlines which stand-out or are remotely feel-able. The surfaces are clean and have retained their original lustre and project a strong mirror-like shine. Inspected under light there are several non feel-able hairlines causing no loud audio problems; and a little feint spotting around the outer edges which is purely cosmetic. The condition clearly shows the potential for a great audio rendition and I believe as potentially the first ever, this is in very fine condition. Solid heavy pressing.
Mothers & Stampers: 1 G / 1 G
Inner Sleeve: Original EMI inner sleeve in Very Good Condition with no splits or discolouration, and neat opening seam. Has a few handling creases.
The Labels: Excellent condition. There is no play-wear around the spindle point and barely visible spindle line traces and the KT tax code is bold and unblemished.
The Mother numbers '1' have not been stamped in the run-out's but the 'G' stampers have. I believe omission of the Mother number was the norm if it was the first Mother at foreign EMI plants.
The Audio: There are very little audible detractions, no particular deviation from the original audio quality. It plays as well as likely to be possible for such a rare find, very clear and lucid with only the occasional static type tic in the fades and possibly has a very small number of low level clicks which are only audible in a few of the linking grooves between tracks and quieter parts too, not that I really noticed. Lucid instrumental detail with perfect stereo channelling and deep warm bass and loud and punchy vocals. No jumps, no pops, no skips, no background noise, no sticks etc. I believe it sounds better than most because it was fresh off the pressing machine. Overall very clear non troublesome and finely tuned audio, but the significance of this LP is mostly to do with its historical worth.
