Description
You are bidding on a fantastic condition copy of The Beatles 1966 compilation album A Collection Of Beatles Oldies. This is an extremely early pressing, indicated by the stampers on the run out grooves. It includes a less common EMI inner sleeve. The whole package is in excellent condition and plays fantastically. Please read on for a detailed description and check out the photos of the actual item you are bidding on.
The sleeve: Very clean Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve. All laminate is in perfect condition except for very minimal creases. The fold over flaps are perfect. The corners have very minor bumping. The side opening edges have virtually no wear. The unlaminated rear is very clean. There are no seam splits. There is a tiny brown stain to the top seam. Overall this is a great sleeve which i would grade Exc+
The stampers: Side 1: 1 M Side 2: 1 GDR
Tax code: KT embossed on Side 2
Matrix: -1G on both sides
The labels: Both side's labels are in superb condition with no damage and strong text. There is minimal spindle marks to both sides. I would grade both sides Exc+
The vinyl: Both sides retain their original high gloss sheen. There are a few small marks to each side, but nothing too extreme. I would grade both sides as Exc
The sound: Overall the sound is superb. Very clear with virtually no noise. There are virtually no pops or crackles, only really noticeable towards the end of Side 1, and then nothing of any significance. There are no skips or jumps. I would grade it Exc+
The inner sleeve: The original rare EMI marketing inner sleeve is included. This dates from 1967, but is definitely the original sleeve. Very strange that such an early pressing from late 1966 wasn't packaged for over six months, but that's 1960s EMI for you i guess. It is in lovely condition with virtually no creases, no tears or splits, and a small amount of discolouring to one edge. I would grade it as Exc
Overall this is a stunning example of an early press of The Beatles' Collection of Oldies album in mono. I would grade the record overall as Exc+
