JUKEBOX COMPACT 33
Capitol SXA 2047, Stereo, January 1964, East Coast only
During the sixties, Capitol issued stereo Compact 33 discs of some of the label's most popular albums for jukebox play. These 7" records had a small center hole and played at 33 1/3 RPM. These mini-albums were normally programmed with three songs from the album on each side of the disc. The songs featured on the Compact 33 records were often unavailable in the 45 singles format. The discs were housed in a cardboard jacket,
which had a miniature reproduction of the album cover on the front and a blank white back side.
Capitol produced three Beatles Compact 33s starting with Meet The Beatles, then The Beatles' Second Album and Something New being the final two.
All three were manufactured by Capitol's Scranton factory.
As these records were intended for jukebox play, they are seldom found in respectable condition. We offer here, the very first Beatles Compact 33 Meet The Beatles, released in January 1964
at the time of the release of the LP Album.
