Brief History:
Records were really hard to get hold of back then in the GDR ( Communist East Germany).
It was about 1980 / 81 and I was 14/15 years old and into music, living on the east side of the Berlin wall in Friedrichshein with a view of the TV tower on Alexanderplatz from my bedroom window.
I bought this album ( and the others of my collection on sale now on ebay), in one of the few shops where you could buy records, either the "Karl Marx Buchhandlung" one U-bahn stop away or the Centrum Warenhaus on Alexanderplatz .
LPs were expensive but the biggest problem was availability, so we relied on the grapevine to give us the tip that such and such shop was selling what were known as " licensed records".
Because it cost so much for the East to get a license for producing records of famous "West" bands there was a limited amount made and therefore they were really hard to find.
I've kept them long enough and don't listen to them. 28 years later I realise that these are truly collector's items to be cherished by an enthusiast.
