Description

The Beatles - 'White Album' LP. Parlophone PCS 7067/7068.

The Beatles 1969 CONTRACT 2ND EXPORT PARLOPHONE PRESSING of the 'White Album' LP. This particularly rare version is of great interest for a number of reasons. In years of collecting Beatles vinyl I have never come across this rare variation. It has been suggested that this originates from a number of different countries including: South East Asia, Israel, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, The Caribbean or even part of Africa. In addition, it has been suggested that it is also a contract pressing by either Decca or CBS (it bears no hall marks of an EMI pressing that I have ever seen). I must add that I simply do not know it origins so please take a look at the images and the information below.

Firstly - and a great rarity in itself this issue is pressed on the PARLOPHONE label and not the Apple label as you would usually find. Secondly - each label also has a ridged center similar to those used by DECCA RECORDS so this appears to be a contract pressing of some kind. This is not an EMI press and I am aware that Decca did produce a very few 1968 yellow and black contract pressings of this album. Thirdly - the side one label features a quite blatant SPELLING ERROR listed below.

'Dear Prudence' is incorrectly listed as DEAR PRODUCER.

The labels are the Parlophone silver and black style with one 'EMI box' logo which was produced around 1969. All four labels also have a very unusual textured appearance unlike the EMI one box labels which are much more glossy. All sides have 'The Gramophone Co Ltd' rim print, UK catalog numbers PCS 7067 / PCS 7068 and UK matrix numbers. The sleeve is top opening and fully laminated. 'The Beatles' is embossed to the front cover together with the unique number '0194825'. The album also comes fully complete with black inner sleeves, lipstick kiss poster and four colour pictures.

The matrix numbers are:

Side 1: YEX 709-1

Side 2: YEX 710-1

Side 3: YEX 711-1

Side 4: YEX 712-1

The vinyl are in EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition. BUT side one has some unusual residue staining (nothing to bad) probably from cleaning fluid. I am quite sure this will come off with the correct cleaning solution. Both vinyls are slightly warped, one more than the other (NOT BADLY WARPED BUT IT'S THERE).

All labels are in EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition.

The cover is in VERY GOOD- condition. Overall a descent example BUT it has a lot of wear to the whole of the spine.

Both black inner sleeves are in FAIR condition. Some large seam splits to quite a few edges. I will include brand new inners to protect the vinyl.

The four pictures are in GOOD+ condition. Tape marks to the corners.

The poster is in FAIR condition. Some major seam splits but all sections accounted for.

The four pictures are in VERY GOOD+ condition. Some light staining (not bad).
