CONDITION OF SLEEVE: NEAR MINT

This is the best original Pet Sounds sleeve (and record) that I have seen.  The sleeve is of the front-laminated, single sleeve variety printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.  The cover shows virtually no signs of ageing.  The lamination is in remarkable condition and has not creased nor bubbled like many other copies of this album, the lamination is fully intact.  The unlaminated rear of the sleeve shows virtually no signs of discolouration for the card is as white as underneath the laminated edges.  The spine is fully intact and shows no creasing or wear.  All edges and corners are in remarkable condition and have virtually no scuffs.  There are a few tiny creases to the rear edges but these are barely noticeable.  This cover has been well stored in a PVC sleeve and will be sent with a new protective PVC outer sleeve.  It is very hard to find this cover in such amazing condition which should impress the most particular of collectors.

This is definitely the best original copy of "Pet Sounds" that I have seen, the vinyl is still glossy and is pressed on thick, heavy vinyl.  It would be near impossible to find a better looking copy of this album or even one of similar standards.  These are usually found with many scratches, many surface marks and a mass of spindle marks.  This copy has two extremely minor hairline marks on side one across a few tracks, however they are not audible and are barely noticeable.  Even when held to the light the record looks amazing and shows a few tiny surface marks on side two that cannot be seen otherwise.  This copy is extremely close to a mint grading and has scored near mint because of the barely visible defects that I have mentioned above. 

The early textured Capitol record labels are in fantastic condition (see pictures).  There are no signs of spindle marks on side one and there are a few light spindle traces on side two, a sign that shows that this copy has rarely been played and has been well looked after. These are easily two of the best Capitol labels that I have seen. 

PLAY-GRADING:

I have play-graded the disc throughout on a PS-LX350H Sony deck with a lightweight 2g tone arm setting.  I have cleaned the disc with a suitable anti-static record cleaning spray.  This LP sounds as incredible as one would expect from a lightly played mono copy.  The album is free from distortion and is a clear pressing.  It is not often that a 38 year old record can be graded near mint throughout!  The track separations are nearly CD quiet and the run-in/run-out grooves are relatively quiet with some mild surface noise.  The tracks are virtually free from unwanted noise or crackle and they all sound magnificent.

A must for any Beach Boys fan or collector, this album would be ideal for the completist collector since the mono and stereo mixes of "Pet Sounds" are slightly different.  It is extremely rare for such a classic 38 year old album to be in near mint condition throughout.  This is a very sought after and collectable album and should please most collectors.

Packaging Information:

This record will be sent in a high quality cardboard record mailing envelope, protected with two strong cardboard stiffeners to prevent unwanted bending during transportation. The record will be placed in a PVC outer sleeve and "sandwiched between the cardboard stiffeners. The envelope will be sealed with strong brown tape.
