ARTIST: THE BATTERED ORNAMENTS

TITLE: Mantle-piece

RECORDING FORMAT: LP

LABEL: HARVEST SHVL 758

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: UNITED KINGDOM

YEAR OF RELEASE: 1969

MATRIX CODE SIDE A: SHVL 758 A-2 (Stamped)

MATRIX CODE SIDE B: SHVL 758 B-2 (Stamped)

CONDITION: (vinyl/cover) VG+/VG ***RATHER NICE COPY!*** (Please read detailed information below!)

Great British progressive act; here reinforced with Chris Spedding. Has all the right ingredients to secure a stand-out record in the genre...this is a more than decent copy as well.

COVER; the laminated gatefold cover has some wear and creases round the edges and corners. There is a light beginning of ringwear on back and some light discoloration on the inside. Rather nice and gets a VERY GOOD-grading.

VINYL; the vinyl has a rather nice sheen with just some very light hairlines and a few light paperscuffs visible under strong light. Visually graded as VERY GOOD PLUS. The first track on side A plays with background crackle. The rest of the side plays fine with just light crackle in some of the quiet parts and in between some of the tracks. Side B plays also fine with some occasional crackle in the quiet parts and in between some of the tracks. Aurally graded as VERY GOOD PLUS.

LABELS; both labels are clean with just some very light spindlemarks visible from some angles.

I use GOLDMINE GRADING STANDARDS – MINT/NEAR MINT/VERY GOOD PLUS/VERY GOOD/GOOD/POOR. The grading MINT (M) is hardly ever used - and at that umcommon occasion - NOT used improperly. NEAR MINT (NM) means NEAR MINT both visually and audible! VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) is the same as EXCELLENT (EX) in other grading systems. My ambition is to provide an as accurate description as possible and I do not try hide any defects or other flaws on the record and cover. MY GRADING IS STRICT and winning bidder ALWAYS has full refund minus shipping costs! PLEASE E-MAIL IF ANY CONCERNS! THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIDDING!

GOLDMINE GRADING STANDARDS

MINT ---- It should appear to be perfect. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains, labels or writing, tears or splits. Mint means perfect.

NEAR MINT ---- Otherwise mint but has one or two tiny inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. Covers should be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner, or writing on the cover should all be noted properly.

VERY GOOD PLUS ---- The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve or the vinyl or some of the original lustre may be lost. A slight scratch that did not affect play would be acceptably VG+ for most collectors.

VERY GOOD ---- Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl lustre, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise, but should not overwhelm the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.

GOOD ---- Well played with little lustre and significant surface noise. Despite defects, record should still play all the way through without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent, but should not obliterate the artwork.

POOR ---- Any record or cover that does not qualify for the above "Good" grading should be seen as Poor. Several cover flaws
