Description

THE ASSASSINS ACETATE Black Night / Travelling Band GRAHAM CLARK RECORDS

The Assassins, Black Night b/w Travelling Band.

Double sided 7" acetate housed in plain sleeve.

Has custom "Graham Clark Records, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey (England)" labels. "Turner" is also penned to the top of the A side label.

Although from my neck of the woods I know nothing about either this label or the band. There also exists a Graham Clark, Addlestone label, presumably the same person, as the two locations are only a couple of miles or so apart.

The songs are the cover versions expected, and played with exuberant enthusiasm if not being the most technically proficient covers, although the lead guitar on Black Night isn't too bad.

Vinyl is losing some gloss and displays a fine network of hairline scuff marks and light scratches. No deep digs or surface loss.

A side play around G minus with crackle a little more prominent. B side plays around G with crackle throughout but not overwhelming the music. No skips or loud consecutive ticks.

I obtained three of these acetates by the same band, and they probably date from the late 1960s to early 1970s, as Black Night by Deep Purple was originally recorded in 1970.

Poly-lined white card sleeve is presumed original. Has "43369" penned to one side.
