THE AFTERGLOW s/t TOP! Original 1968 USA Psych Pop Rock lp M-

1968/USA/MTA Records MTS-5010….. here’s a nice original pressing of this rare lp. The cover is in nice condition with light shelf/ring wear, corner dings/wear, there is a delete hole top left corner, the top seam is split 8" from opening and also split on left side about 1"(paper missing), paper around corner onto seam is cracked and some paper is missing, 1/4" paper missing at lower spine, spotty lower seam wear, 2 price sticker on front, some light staining/aging on white back, otherwise solid and clean. The vinyl is in glossy new looking Excellent to M- condition with a handful of super light inaudible sleeve scuffs. The record plays clean from start to finish and I assume I was probably the first to give it a spin. Plays with clean fidelity! Clean labels have no spindle marks. A nice copy of this rare lp. An obscure psychedelic band based in Oregon, Afterglow released only one album in 1968 before vanishing. Afterglow's lone, eponymous release was sort of like a sampler of American psychedelic styles, featuring songs that recalled not only the Doors and Jefferson Airplane, but also the Byrds, Donovan and trippy garage-psychedelic bands like the Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Led by guitarist/vocalist Tony Tecumseh, the group formed in August of 1965 when Tecumseh was convinced by a friend to contact drummer Larry Alexander and a bassist named Mike. The trio, dubbed the Madallions, soon added vocalist Gene Resler and the band played several shows, usually at a local pizza parlor, before they went their separate ways to attend college. They re-formed in 1966, adding new bassist Ron George and keyboardist Roger Swanson. That fall, they began recording with producer Leo Lukla at his Golden State Recorders studio, but due to their studies, they were unable to complete an album until late 1967; the resulting eponymous record appeared early the following year on MTA Records. Afterglow was ignored at the time and the group broke up shortly afterward.

GRADING

MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
