THIS RECORD CAME FROM A LONG TIME CLOSED RECORD SHOP IN MY MALTA THE AGENT OF PYE RECORDS IF THIS RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED ONLY TO BE TRIED AT THE SHOP AND NEVER BEEN OUT FOR SALE.
RECORD IS IN N/M CONDITION.
HOLY GRAIL MEGA RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER UK PSYCH BEAT MOD MOVER.
The 5 a.m. Event started out in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the mid-'60s, working under the name the Crescendos, consisting of Glenn Macrae (vocals, harmonica), Terry Loeb (guitar), Dennis Penner (bass), and Vance Masters (drums). The group was good enough at emulating the British Invasion sound to get brought over to Liverpool in early 1966. They got booked at the Cavern Club and came to the notice of ex-Searchers drummer Chris Curtis, who renamed them the trippier 5 a.m. Event and got them a record deal with Pye Records. Their single, "Hungry" b/w "I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water," didn't chart, and by the end of 1966 the group had returned to Canada and a relatively anonymous subsequent history, although according to Vernon Joynson, Vance Masters did rate a place in one of the Guess Who's latter-day lineups.
