Bio: BREVE HISTORIA DE UNA LEYENDA DEL ROCK CEUTI Tharna, auténtica leyenda de la música rock ceutí, nace en el año 1985 tras la desaparición del grupo Chopo, integrado por Miguel Torres (batería), Antonio Bravo (teclados), Iñaki León (guitarra), Pepe Alba (guitarra), Gabriel León (bajo) y Alberto Mateos (voz). Chopo, banda con influencias sinfónicas, necesitaba un nuevo impulso que le hiciera conectar más con la afición rockera ceutí y, tras el abandono de Pepe Alba y Miguel Torres, entró a formar parte de la formación el batería Damián Ríos que compartía su actividad con el también legendario grupo Parking. En 1985, desaparece definitivamente Chopo y nace Tharna pero, no sólo cambia el nombre del grupo, sino también la concepción musical de la banda, creando una música más contundente lo que le hizo conectar más con la afición rockera ceutí. Tras un breve espacio de tiempo, Damián Ríos, abandona la banda y su puesto es ocupado por Antonio Ruiz sumándose también otro gran guitarrista ceutí, José Antonio Fajardo. En 1986, Tharna se prepara para su primer gran reto, participar en el Concurso Nacional de Rock, Ceuta Rock ..86, con motivo de la Semana de la Juventud en esta ciudad. En este certamen participaron prometedoras bandas rockeras de todo el país, destacando la participación del grupo cordobés Ago. Tharna se alza con el triunfo en el certamen y esto le permite entrar por primera vez en un estudio de grabación para la producción de su primer trabajo discográfico, como premio del mismo. Se trata del single “Sueños perdidos”, “Pobre diablo”, dos temas que fueron bien acogidos por sus seguidores y marcaron el inicio de un nuevo rumbo del grupo. Tharna se convertía en el grupo más importante de la ciudad y sus seguidores apoyaban a la formación en cada concierto. Comenzaba un nuevo ciclo con grandes grupos en Ceuta, la década de los ochenta y principios de los noventa fue la más fructífera de la historia musical de la ciudad y Tharna se alzaba como uno de los máximos exponentes del Rock norteafricano. Diversas vicisitudes hicieron que el batería Antonio Ruiz, abandonara el grupo y fue sustituido por Tato Díaz que, pese a su juventud, supo encajar en la formación y aportar todo su talento en pro de la transformación que Tharna iba experimentando constantemente. Fajardo también abandonó el grupo aunque, en este caso, no se optó por una sustitución, sino que Iñaki León tomó las riendas de las seis cuerdas y el grupo quedó conformado con una guitarra, bajo, batería y voz. Tras dos años de intenso trabajo y conciertos en la ciudad, así como en el norte de Marruecos, Tharna, gracias al apoyo que en aquel momento le prestó el concejal de Juventud, Diego Sánchez Baglietto, tiene la oportunidad de conseguir el máximo objetivo planteado por la banda, grabar el álbum que significaría la llave al panorama musical nacional (calidad no les faltaba). Tras varias conversaciones con Diego Sánchez Baglietto, se llegó al acuerdo del adelanto de una subvención que le permitiría al grupo viajar a Madrid para conseguir hacer realidad uno de los sueños más importantes de todos sus componentes, la grabación del Lp. Tras varios meses de arduo trabajo, los temas estaban preparados para plasmarlos en el vinilo. Puestos en contacto con Julio Castejón, guitarrista del mítico grupo Asfalto, la banda viajó a Madrid en el verano de 1988 y, por fin, se trajeron para Ceuta el tan esperado Lp, titulado “La Invasión”. Tras meses de promoción en la capital y, visitando a los críticos más importantes del momento (El Pirata, Mariano García, Carlos Pina…), el grupo adquiría la madurez necesaria para dar el salto al panorama nacional. Varios conciertos en Marruecos y en la Península y algunos artículos de prensa nacional (Heavy Rock) ponían a Tharna en una posición bastante optimista de cara a dar el gran salto. Finalmente, el salto no vino y poco a poco fueron perdiéndose las ilusiones por triunfar fuera de la ciudad que los había alzado a la gloria local. Pero Tharna no murió….. Sus canciones quedarán siempre en el recuerdo de sus componentes y seguidores y…. quizás algún día podamos disfrutar de su música en algún escenario ceutí. ..
