TERRY REID "SEED OF MEMORY" 1976 U.S. original ABC LP produced by Graham Nash. Stereo ABCD-935. M-/M-.
In the late 60s, teenage Terry Reid was being hailed as one of England's finest blue-eyed soul singers. He signed with Mickie Most & released two albums on Epic which displayed his powerful set of pipes, especially on the Donovan song "Superlungs" from his second album simply titled "Terry Reid". Around this time, he was approached by label-mate Jimmy Page about fronting his new venture- the new Yardbirds which eventually became Led Zeppelin. Terry turned down the offer but recommended a young singer from the unsigned band Band Of Joy by the name of Robert Plant & the rest is history. He was also offered the lead vocalist slot in Deep Purple- a position which went to Ian Gillan from Episode Six. Terry wanted to do his own thing & felt restrained by Mickie Most's tight rein. He didn't release another record until 1973s "River" on Atlantic Records after Ahmet Ertegun had finally got him out of his previous contract. "River" is now recognized as a fantastic album with Terry's ventures into Latin & Tropicalia although it didn't do well at the time. Another three years passed & "Seed Of Memory" appeared marking another change of direction for Terry- this time with a singer-songwriter feel but that powerful voice still appearing on some tracks. Produced by one of Terry's best friends- Graham Nash. Graham had recorded one of Terry's earlier songs "Without Expression" with both the Hollies & Crosby Stills & Nash. Graham does a fine job on this record with tasteful string arrangements & although it is subtle, it definitely grows on you after repeated listenings. "To Be Treated Rite" & the title track are both great but all eight tracks are very good. David Lindley from the U.S. group Kaleidoscope played guitar, slide guitar & violin, long-time side-kick Lee Miles from the Ike & Tina Turner band played bass, Plas Johnson, Blue Mitchell & Fred Wesley providing the funky horns on "Ooh Baby" & Tim Weisberg played flute on "Seed Of Memory". This U.S. ABC LP with the 4 page lyric insert is an original pressing from 1976.

Cover is MINT except for a small 3/4" notch in the upper right corner. No writing, tears or split seams. Overall the cover is in near MINT condition. Record sounds great with no scratches or scuffs, vinyl retains it's original sheen. ** Very few spins on this disc but it has a slight warp which may affect play on Side 2, Track 1 ("Ooh Baby") on some sensitive turntables.** Still rated near MINT overall. The ABC labels look great & indicate that it is an original pressing from 1976.The 4 page lyric insert is also in near MINT condition.
