After 15 years of service, Denver-based husband and wife duo Tennis called it quits in 2025, making Face Down In The Garden their seventh and final LP. One of their career highlights is Swimmer, their fifth studio LP, which at the time of release in 2020 was their most glossily produced record to-date, marking a firm departure from the more lo-fi reverb-y sounds they burst onto the scene with in 2010. The single 'Need Your Love' that combines the soulfully broad appeal of Carole King and Buckingham Nicks with just a smattering of single coil jangly indie guitar. Elsewhere, 'I'll Haunt You' shows their knack for a piano-led ballad and makes the case for Alaina Moore being one of the best vocalists in indie rock. You only realise what you have when it's gone, let's hope they one day get the band back together.
