Another from my personal collection, I have owed this album for more than 30 years, I initially played this awesome album and then stored this in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover for protection,, This is how I have alays stored my records!!! This audio is as good as it gets in my opinion! ,, plays very near perfect\mint on my systems, truly stunning audio seperation only heard like this on the earliest pressings. This being the earliest 1st UK pressing features -1W and -1W matrix endings the earliest possible for this pressing. This is not just rare and sought after because of its outstanding audio quality but for the fact that this has the earliest and rarest type of gatefold with the large 8mm width spine very rarely ever seen and hardly ever seen in this condition! very very rare to find like this! Over the years I have found a poster which also may make this desirable! 

Cricklewood Green is the fifth album by blues rock band Ten Years After, released in 1970!!

After several years of local success in the Nottingham/Mansfield area as a band known since 1962 as The Jaybirds (its core was formed in late 1960 as Ivan Jay and the Jaycats), and later as Ivan Jay and the Jaymen, Ten Years After was founded by Alvin Lee and Leo Lyons. Ivan Jay sang lead vocals from late 1960 to 1962 and was joined by Ric Lee in August 1965, replacing original drummer Dave Quickmire, who had joined in 1962. In 1966 The Jaybirds moved to London, where Chick Churchill joined the group. That November the quartet signed a manager, Chris Wright, and decided to change their name to Blues Trip, Blues Yard (under which they played a show at the Marquee Club supporting the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band), and finally in November 1966, to Ten Years After (in honour of Elvis Presley, an idol of Lee's whose momentous year in rock, 1956, helps to better explain the band's title). They became the first band of the soon-to-be Chrysalis Agency. They secured a residency at the Marquee, and received an invitation to play at the renowned Windsor Jazz Festival in 1967. That performance led to a contract with Deram, a subsidiary company of Decca – the first band so signed without a hit single. In October, their 1967 self-titled debut album was released!!.

In 1968, after touring Scandinavia and the United States, Ten Years After released their second album, live Undead, which brought their first classic, "I'm Going Home." This was followed in February 1969 by studio issue, Stonedhenge, a British hit, that included another classic, "Hear Me Calling" (it was released also as a single, and covered in 1972 by British glam rock rising stars, Slade). In July 1969 they appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival, in the first event to which rock bands were invited. In August, the band performed a breakthrough American appearance at Woodstock; their furious-to-soft-to-furious rendition of "I'm Going Home" featuring Alvin Lee as the lead singer was featured in both the subsequent film and soundtrack album and catapulted them to star status!!!.

During 1970, Ten Years After released "Love Like a Man", their only hit in the UK Singles Chart. This song was on their fifth album, Cricklewood Green. The name of the album comes from a friend of the group who lived in Cricklewood, London. He grew a sort of plant which was said to have hallucinogenic effects. The band did not know the name of this plant, so they called their album Cricklewood Green. It was the first record to be issued with a different playing speed on both sides – one a three-minute edit at 45rpm, the other, a nine-minute live version at 33rpm. In August, Ten Years After played the Isle of Wight Festival 1970 to an audience of 600,000!!!!

The vinyl

This is the original thick and chunky heavy original type of vinyl only found on the earliest pressings. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable. On initial inspection this vinyl looks awesome in fact i can barely see a blemish on the playing surface at all and looks near mint. Only in strong light could possibly any sleeve removal marks be seen. (i can't see any) Any that there may be would have no effect on the audio quality what so ever!

The audio quality.

I have played this through track for track at very loud volume three timers prior to listing on a top system! The audio is stunning,,, Cristal Clear and Very Vibrant, Almost as good as it gets for a 39 year old vinyl  in my personal opinion. (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) distortion or any signs that this has been overplayed what so ever!!There is not much more to say about this, the audio is stunning throughout! graded at least excellent plus to near mint!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 39 year old vinyl that ould have been played on a 39 year old system!

Important note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 30 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks\crackle! A constant clean before each play is recomended,,,this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!!

The labels

Feature the original stereo deram labels There is little if no spindle are the hole is perfectly round. Spidering can be seen only angled to the light this has not been overplayed in my opinion. 'Made in England'' is featiured (only UK press)

The record sleeve

This is the original blue Decca\Deram sereo sleeve with no splits or tares! becoming fragile ith age and light general creases (see photos) but unusually clean (normally seen very grubby)

The cover.

This is the original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover very very rarely seen with the wider type spine measures 8mm in width!! This is in exceptional condition concidering this is 39 years old. Please note these are often seen in a terrible state and is one of the hardest to ever find like this! There are (no) splits or tares or any nasty names wwritten or nasty marks,, Only on very close scutiny can light rubbing to the edges and at the top end\corner at the spine be seen! Any creases are extreemely minimal and you would have to look hard to notice them! Very importantly this cover as stored and seperated from the vinyl about 30 years ago for its protection. This is why there is no ringare and why this is in astounding condition. This must be at least excellent to excellent plus! Exceptional condition strong and straight as it should be (no) flattening at the spine that is so commonly seen unbeleivable!

The poster.

This album is offered with the (large) poster of alvin lee (please note) Printed in the USA Making this highly desirable and very sought after. This poster is in mint condition and has been kept seperate in a poly bag for preservation.Please note! This poster was not with this album when i purchased it!  .
