Description
TEDDY WILSON & BILLIE HOLIDAY Hot Jazz Classics
Surface / Play-graded (VJM standards): E: all four 78's are very glossy; no chips or true scratches. A few very light scuffs that do not affect play. All four play STRONG. One record has a black mark on the label (it may come off, but I did not want to tear label). The album is in beautiful condition, with a tight spine and no tears or splits.
Label: Columbia C-61 Format: Shellac, 4 x 10", 78 RPM Year: 1941 Country: US Genre / Style: Jazz / Swing
Shipping / Handling: $10 (Media Mail). I have experience shipping 78's (see below)
Packing / Shipping:
Shellac records are as delicate as glass. As such, the 10" record will be mailed with extreme care taken. The record is first placed in a white generic sleeve; it is then placed between two cardboard stiffeners, cut to size, which are taped on either side. The sandwiched record is then bubble wrapped, and placed in a roomy enough box so that the records "float," surrounded by crumpled newspaper to ensure records arrive in one piece.
Shellac 78 rpm records are surface / play-graded graded using the VJM system w / 3.0 mil Audio-Technica stylus & cartridge especially made for playing 78's
E+ (plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets).
E (still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches).
E- (still shiny but without the luster of a new record, few light scratches).
V+ (an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced).
V (moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive).
V- (quite playable still, but distortion and heavy graying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level).
