I can’t think of a better hot rockin’ female soul single recorded in this country during the sixties. Both sides are fantastic. It’s one of a few singles this good looking Bandstand duo had on Leedon.
By far, it’s the less common of them and musically leaves the others (How Long Can a Girl Pretend/ It’s Love That Really Counts etc) asleep at the post. The (a) side is, of course, a hot cover of the Smokey Robinson song. The (b) side, I think, is even better. I’ll go so far as to say that it outdoes the original by Little Eva. How it wasn’t a hit I’ll never know. Condition wise, one side has a couple of small marks that are largely confined to the run on vinyl. They seem to make no appreciable difference to the sound at all which is loud and clear. In a Leedon “boomerang” jacket.
