This is a rare and highly sought-after record and is on the TAS Superlist

This is a legendary red seal RCA stereo record, recorded by Decca in Kingsway Hall, London, in December 1957. It is rated 10++ on Mitchell's list of RCAs and is on his pick of the top 16. The "Tam O'Shanter" selection will give your system an opportunity to show how good the sound is on this record. The Danse Macabre has wonderful tone, excellent violin sound, and superbly conducted.

From the record notes about the music: "Throughout this album there is witchery a-brewing. It is the witchery of tone. It is an unbaneful magic that leaves no disturbing aftereffect. If such music didn't cast the right sort of spell, so many listeners wouldn't be returning to it on so many occasions, somehow feeling constantly refreshed."

Record looks clean and shiny, no noticeable spindle marks, has a few harmless surface marks and in one small 1/2" section on side 1, band 2 of "Pictures" has a couple small hairline scratches causing some occasional light tics. Otherwise record plays with mostly quiet surfaces, occasional few odd tics!

A beautiful clean near mint cover, trivial corner creases upper right, no seam splits.

[ I visually grade the record in good light. I play grade the record by spot checking several areas, especially areas that have marks. I listen using Grado SR325 headphone w/Grado headphone amp, on a Well Tempered Turntable & arm, mcz Grado cartridge. These are very revealing headphones allowing me to hear any surface noise, although from a close-in perspective. Your experience may differ depending on your system. I generally do not clean the record unless so noted. Most will improve with your preferred cleaning method. ] Payment is accepted in the following formats:
