TANGELA TRICOLI Jet Lady Very rare private pressed weird outsider folk LP from 1982. "Years after the release of her 1982 vanity-pressed LP, "Jet Lady", Tangela Tricoli began to garner a following among fans of "outsider" music -- that is, music made without the benefit of what most listeners would consider conventional artistic talent, but valued by a small minority for its unique quirkiness. Tricoli was not a musician by profession, but an airline pilot, eventually rising to the position of top-ranked female pilot at American Airlines. A Renaissance woman of sorts with many interests, she also found time to host a goofy cable show in Los Angeles, Tangela Tonight; run for the mayor of L.A.; and, in 1982, record the weird tunes that made up "Jet Lady". While "Stinky Poodle" is the most famous track from that LP, it was surrounded by equally strange odes to flying, space, a housewife's life, the supermarket, and love. Primitively recorded, it was entirely arranged, composed, and performed (usually on plunky guitar, sometimes with piano and synthesizer) by Tricoli. Only 1,000 copies were pressed." The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
