Condition : the gatefold sleeve shows in the front a slight abrasion on the bottom, just below the writing "the world", plus some trace of ring wear and small yellowish spots, EX / vinyl, although correctly played, has some surface marks which affect moderately listening with some light clicks and hisses in a few tracks, EX

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : undici canzoni ed un unico brano strumentale (b1). Per lo più ballate interpretate con grande personalità dagli stessi compositori ben supportate da musica rock sia dall'andamento moderato che dal ritmo vivace. Le liriche hanno in alcuni casi natura intimistica e poetica. A mio modesto avviso i brani di maggior rilevanza sono quelli eseguiti dal gruppo Taman Shud principalmente focalizzato sul rock progressivo e psichedelico oltre alla musica surf. La loro "First Things First" (a3) ha un buon sapore blues rock con uno sviluppo ritmico moderato ma dalle caratteristiche assai originali. "Bali Waters" (b1) è l'unico brano strumentale dell'album. Qui il buon flauto di Richard Lockwood si combina perfettamente con il bassista Peter Barron, la batteria di Dannie Davidson e la chitarra di Lindsay Bjerre creando una sorta d'atmosfera magica con piacevoli sensazioni di musica psichedelica. Senzazione quest'ultima che si ripete nel loro ultimo brano "Sea the Swells" (b4) con una poderosa ed insistente linea di basso supportata dalla batteria, flauto e bella chitarra dai suoni distorti. "Simple Ben" (a6) è un'ottima ballata blueseggiante cantata da John J. Francis. "Making it on Your Own" (b2) di Brian Cadd è una canzone con un bel accompagnamento rock sottolineato da chitarra e pianoforte. "Day Comes" (b3) di G. Wayne Thomas ha ritmo vivacissimo e godibile. Queste le mie raccomandazioni ma sinceramente tutti i brani presenti nell'album sono piacevoli e ricchi di bella personalità musicale.

Notes : eleven songs and only one instrumental track (b1). Mostly some ballads performed with great personality by the same composers well supported by rock music both from moderate development or from the lively rhythm. Lyrics have in some cases an intimate and poetic nature. In my humble opinion the tracks of most significance are those performed by the group Taman Shud mainly focused on progressive and psychedelic rock in addition to surf music. Their "First Things First" (3) has a good blues rock flavor with a moderate rhythmic development but at the same time by very original features. "Bali Waters" (b1) is the only instrumental track on the album. Here the good flute by Richard Lockwood perfectly harmonizes with bassist Peter Barron as well as drummer Dannie Davidson and guitarist Lindsay Bjerre creating a sort of magical atmosphere with pleasant sensations of psychedelic music. Sensation that it is repeated in their last track "Sea the Swells" (b4) with a remarkable and insistent bass line supported by drums, flute and nice guitar by the distorted sonorities. "Simple Ben" (a6) is an excellent bluesy ballad sung by John J. Francis. "Making it on Your Own" (b2) by Brian Cadd is a song with a nice rock accompaniment highlighted by guitar and piano. "Day Comes" (b3) by G. Wayne Thomas has lively and enjoyable rhythm. These are my recommendations but frankly all the tracks in the album are pleasant and full of beautiful music personality.

Regia di Albert Falzon, con celebri surfisti dell'epoca quali Stephen Cooney, Terry Fitzgerald, Barry Kanaiaupuni e molti altri ancora.
