Description
Your chance to buy a spotless copy of an early pressing (A2/B2 matrix) of the magnificent Syd Barrett's The Madcap Laughs - on the Harvest label (SHVL 765, released 1970). One of the earliest releases on Harvest, it does not have the 'boxed EMI logo' on the label. This is a really beautiful copy of an increasingly rare record - I don't think you'll find a better copy short of coming across a MINT copy.
It has the following matrix numbers:
Side 1: SHVL 765 A-2G
Side 2: SHVL 765 B-2G
VINYL: The vinyl looks great and has retained its original high sheen. Visual inspection under bright light shows only minimal hairline marks - none of which produce any level of sound. It has obviously been well cared for. Soundwise it really couldn't be better. There is minimal background noise - the odd pop and no sign of crackle, even between tracks. Even through headphones this is a joy. I have had no hesitation in grading the vinyl as Excellent (Ex+).
LABELS: The labels are near perfect with no damage, writing or stickers.
SLEEVE: The sleeve is the original laminated gatefold cover and is in Excellent condition. It has a couple of minor oxbow creases in the laminate (you can just make out one in the bottom right hand corner of the main picture), some slight ringwear and minor wear around the opening. The spine is strong and the inner unlaminated picture is in splendid condition.
INNER SLEEVE: Intriguingly the inner sleeve has "SLEEVE IN WINDOW" written on it in small neat letters - presumably it had been rapidly disposed of by a Floyd fan disillusioned by Syd's direction. And there is a small printed square sticker with "39" on it. The numbered stickers used to come with the record racks that we all used to dutifully store our records in back in the 60s and 70s ... so, someone's 39th step.

POSTAGE & PACKING
The record will be carefully packaged to ensure that it survives the journey. In this case the vinyl will be packaged separate to the sleeve. Everything will be sealed in an inner plastic cover and protected with rigid cardboard stiffeners. It will be posted requiring signature on delivery. Insurance can be arranged on request.
Postage to Europe will cost £9.95. Elsewhere in the world will cost £13.45.
