Description
Artist: The Swinging Blue Jeans
Release: Hippy Hippy Shake
Year: 1964
Label: Imperial
Condition: NM (media) / VG+ (cover)
Up for auction is a white label promo stereo copy of The Swinging Blue Jeans' 1964 U.S. debut Hippy Hippy Shake on Imperial Records. Before they were Swinging Blue Jeans, they were a Liverpool skiffle group called the Bluegenes — they got booed off stage in Hamburg in 1962 for playing too much jazz, switched to rock'n'roll overnight, changed their name to match their stage attire, and within a year they were at Abbey Road cutting the explosive version of "Hippy Hippy Shake" that nearly topped the UK charts.
Condition: Vinyl is graded NM (Near Mint) — clean, glossy, plays with minimal to no surface noise. The cover is VG+ with light shelf wear preventing a full NM grade; wear is photographed for full transparency. Stored in a smoke-free environment. Ships with LP removed from jacket to prevent seam splits.
I generally ship in 1-2 days. When I ship, I always do so in a sturdy mailer. Contact me if you have any questions.
Goldmine Grading:
Near Mint (NM) — A nearly perfect record. The vinyl shows no obvious signs of wear. No more than one or two tiny hairline scuffs, none of which are audible. The record plays with no more than one or two isolated pops/clicks. The label is clean with no spindle marks or writing. The jacket is clean with no seam splits, ring wear, or corner damage.
Very Good Plus (VG+) — The vinyl shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have very slight hairline scratches. The vinyl may have slight warp that does not affect the sound. The label may have some ring wear or spindle marks. The jacket may have slight wear, corner dings, or minor seam splits.
