Description
Sweetwater is the selftitled debut album by the American folk rock band.
The group famously was scheduled to open the Woodstock music festival but were delayed by traffic forcing the promoters to open instead with Ritchie Havens who gave a stunning lengthy performance. The group was eventually flown in by helicopter and was able to perform. The groups material was largely in a folk rock fusion vein not unlike The Jefferson Airplane. In 68-69 the band toured often with the Doors and Animals. The band is best known for their version of “Motherless Child”. Nice two -tone first press on Reprise from 1968 here.
