redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This lovely LP from Ducretet Thomson (300 C 111, French pressing, yellow/white label, mono) features the enigmatic pianist Georges de Svirsky in a fascinating recital of Bach’s transcriptions for keyboard of Concertos and Concert Movements by Antonio Vivaldi.

Of Russian origin, Svirsky studed with, among others, Louis Diémer at the Paris Conservatory.

These performances were recorded in Paris in November 1957 and, to my knowledge, have never enjoyed re-issue in any format.

The exact contents are as follows:

Side 1

Vivaldi (arr. Bach): Concerto in D Major

Vivaldi (arr. Bach): Grave in E minor

Vivaldi (arr. Bach): Concerto in B-flat Major

Side 2

Vivaldi (arr. Bach): Concerto in C minor

Vivaldi (arr. Bach): Largo in E minor

Vivaldi (arr. Bach): Concerto in F Major

There are fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Bernard Gavoty, printed in French only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD+. There is minor wear at corners, faint ringwear, and light discoloration, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the jacket remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is enjoyable. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
