An Indian James Bond, surrounded by Indian Chicks, who fights like Bruce Lee, and dances like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. That was the concept. And MAN! Did they succeed!! Surakksha (Safety).Produced & Directed by notorious B-movie guys from Tamil Nadu, with the cheapest but most thrilling effects ever: carton skyscrapers, matchbox cars & trucks, stock footage of floods & waves. Mithun is the hero. Indeed fights like Bruce Lee, and dances like George Bush. Look at him! Riding a Flood Wave on a gun, his right hand in Karate position, his left hand holding 2 (TWO!) guns!!!
And Bappi Lahiri did the score, and introduced for the first time Disco in Hindi Cinema. Highlight of the LP kicks of with a conversation in Hindi, and you can catch words like 'kisi Atomic Generator ka....' Then the explosion follows of this atomic generator, which blows up the under-sea headquarters of the Villian. For over a minute this Earthquake noise continues, accompagnied by a distant Also Sprach Zarathustra. Then the Title Bond-like instrumental title tune follows, and it is amazing! 'Gunmaster....... I love you!!!' sings the Indian Bond girl. Followed by Notorious Bapppi Beats!
