Description
This is the original debut album by Sun Ra, released in 1957 on Transition Records under the title Jazz By Sun Ra. Tracks: "Brainville," "Call For Demons," "Transition," "Possession," "Street Named Hell," "Lullaby for Realville," "Future," "New Horizons," "Fall Off The Log" and "Sun Song."
If you are looking at this auction you know that this LP is incredibly rare and that you may never see it in this condition again. I will admit that this record was very hard to grade. It is between VG and VG+ and not entirely VG+ only because it has been played a few times in almost 60 years and there is some noticeable surface wear. However, there are no other defects in the vinyl other than some play wear. The cover is VG because it is cleanly taped at the seams as the photos demonstrate. Both labels are present (unlike many Transition albums) and super clean as the photos show. Most importantly, the original insert booklet is present and in great shape. I played the record and it plays very nicely! Good luck to all of you Sun Ra collectors this is a super cool LP!
Reminder: A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play.
