Description
This copy of Styx's "Cornerstone" album is a rare find. It is a sealed, new audiophile copy of the 1979 Styx album. During the late 1970s and 1980s, a number of record labels began to release many original recordings remastered for an ever more discerning audience of vinyl enthusiasts looking to own the best available audio recordings for their turntables. This particular release was marketed by A&M Records Canada as an Audiophile version of the 1979 Styx album "Cornerstone".
This recording was remastered and manufactured for release in Canada in the 1980s. This particular Japanese pressing of the A&M Canada audiophile release of "Cornerstone" has been in the collection of one person since the early 1980s. The information on the album's back cover states (in English and French): "The audiophile process produces a superb master from which this record is manufactured on the purest possible anti-static vinyl. The cutting of the master from the original stereo tapes is performed at half the normal speed, the velocity of the cutting stylus being dramatically reduced results in a more faithful cutting of heavily modulated passages and the general extension of the frequency range. A&M Records' Audiophile Series provides extremely high fidelity sound reproduction, remarkably clear and distinct, virtually free of background noise."
For those who are first discovering the brilliance of vinyl today, or for those who've never lost their appreciation of a great vinyl recording, this pressing, from 30-35 years ago, is a sound investment. It will be packaged, shipped and insured at seller's expense within the United States. International shipping is available at purchaser's expense. A&M Records Canada selection number is SPJ-3711 (there was no bar code). Please note: The country of origin is listed as Canada, as that was the location of this branch of the A&M Records company at the time of manufacture. The package (as indicated earlier) states on the front cover that the disc was "Pressed in Japan". The package has remained unopened. There is an original A&M Audiophile Series sticker across the back cover indicating that the album has never been opened.
