Description
Purple is the second studio album released by the American rock band Stone Temple Pilots released in June 1994 on Atlantic Records. The album, building off the foundations laid by the band's debut album Core, was a huge success for the band, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and remaining there for three weeks. eventually selling over six million copies. It spawned a number of successful singles--"Vasoline" and "Interstate Love Song" both topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, while "Big Empty" also cracked the Top 10. Lesser known album cuts "Pretty Penny" and "Unglued" were also released as promotional radio singles. The album's style sees an expansion of the band's sound. While the band's debut,Core,had a more grunge-oriented sound with churning guitar riffs and aggresive vocals, Purple saw the band shift to a more alternative rock-style, incorporating a number of influences, including psychedelic and southern rock. In 2006. the album was ranked #73 on Guitar World magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Albums of all time. The album title, "Purple", is written as a Chinese character on the cover, and nowhere else on the packing (with the exception of the UK and European limited edition vinyl release). When asked about the title in an interview, vocalist Scott Weiland replied "It's my favorite color. It's the color of bruises". This is the 1994 US Vinyl LP (purple color) on the Atlantic Label. The catalog # on the spine is: 82607-1. I have never played this vinyl. Vinyl looks unplayed. Missing lyric sheet. Record is graded by Goldmine standards as N/M. No spindal wear and clean surface. I have never played any of my color vinyls as their sound quality is not that good. I also have this copy on cd. One of my all time favorite records. As a bonus, I will include the single of "Interstate Love Song" / "Loungefly" UK Import 7" "purple color" vinyl on the Warner European Atlantic Label . Record looks unplayed and graded as N/M. Sleeve is also N/M. Bar code matrix # is: 0 7567-87192-7. Records were stored in a heavy duty anvil case since 2006 and comes from a smoke/pet free home.
