I bought this vinyl record about a month ago from a seller in Europe. I paid quite a bit of money for it as it was listed as Near Mint. Unfortunately, despite the seller packing the record well, the vinyl got scratched in transit. The zipper on this release is notorius for causing damage to these records. Anyway, I wet cleaned the album with my record cleaning machine and hoped for the best. Upon the first play after cleaning of side one, I was blown away by the sound quality. Absolutely dead quiet backgrounds even between tracks. I could not believe it. Near Mint for sure. Side two - Sounded much the same, NM, until the end of track 4, Dead Flowers, where the scratch is. At that point the scratch causes a skip. I immediately raised the tonearm and lowered the stylus to the beginning of track five, Moonlight Mile. There is an audible tick on Moonlight Mile that lasts for about 90 seconds, then it is quiet again.
This record sounds amazing up until the end of track 4 on side 2.
The album jacket is in NM condition also, see photos. Zipper is in tact with a large pull. All four corners have only the most minor of dings. No seam splits at all. Insert is present and in great condition. After cleaning I replaced the original inner sleeve with a brand new Mobile Fidelity anti-static rice paper sleeve. Original sleeve included.
I recorded this album in Hi Rez 24bit 192kh to keep for comparison sake.
If you can live with a partially scratched record, you will not be disappointed with this album.
Since I have fully disclosed the condition of this record, I will not be accepting any returns.
I will over pack this album and keep the darn zipper fully isolated from the vinyl so as not to cause any more damage.
