With his amazingly accomplished guitar playing, Stevie Ray Vaughan sparked the blues revival of the 80s. Vaughan drew inspiration from blues players like Albert King, Otis Rush and Hubert Sumlin, rock 'n' roll players like Jimi Hendrix and Lonnie Mack, and jazz guitarists like Kenny Burrell. He developed a uniquely eclectic and fiery style that sounded like no other guitarist, no matter the genre.
On the 1989 album In Step, Vaughan found his own voice as a songwriter, uniquely blending blues, soul and rock and writing with startling emotional honesty. Yes, there are a few covers, all well chosen, but the core of the album are the songs he co-wrote with Doyle Bramhall, the man who penned the soul-to-soul hit 'Change It'. Fueled by a desire to make up for lost time and to delight in his renewed commitment to life and sobriety, Vaughan delivered what many consider his greatest artistic statement, an album full of sweat, soul, determination and not a breath of filling material.

Sterling Sound's Ryan Smith cut the finishes for the LPs using the ultimate VMS 80 cutting machine. Gary Salstrom did the coating and the vinyl was of course pressed at Quality Record Pressings.
